Diogo Leite

Diogo Leite (born Diogo Filipe Monteiro Pinto Leite) is a Portuguese professional footballer, born in Porto on 23 January 1999. Playing as a left-footed central defender, his main strengths are his physical power (standing at 190 cm tall), his aerial dominance, and his ability to build up play from the back.
He developed through the youth academy at Porto, a club with which he won the UEFA Youth League in 2019, before making his first-team debut in 2018 and immediately winning the Portuguese Super Cup. After a decade associated with the Dragões and a loan spell at Sporting Braga during the 2021–2022 season, he decided to move abroad to test himself in German football.
In 2022, he arrived in the Bundesliga to play for Union Berlin. In Germany, he quickly established himself as one of the defensive pillars of the team, racking up over 130 total appearances across four seasons and taking part in the German club's historic Champions League campaign. Following the expiry of his contract with Union Berlin, he signed for Lazio as a free agent on 8 September 2026, a move strongly desired by manager Gennaro Gattuso to reinforce the Biancocelesti backline.
At international level, Diogo Leite boasts an impressive track record with Portugal's youth teams, having been crowned Under-17 European Champion in 2016 and reaching the final of the Under-21 European Championship in 2021.
