Foschi spent all his youth footballing days in the Lazio academy.

In 1984-85 he was sometimes added to the first team squad and appeared on the bench once. It was a negative season for the Biancocelesti who were relegated, first under Paolo Carosi, then Juan Carlos Lorenzo and finally the Giancarlo Oddi-Bob Lovati duo.

In 1985-86 Gigi Simoni took over as manager but Lazio failed to win promotion, ending up mid-table. There were financial problems and Giorgio Chinaglia left in February. In all this Foschi appeared on the bench a couple of times while continuing to play for the Primavera.

In 1986-87 Eugenio Fascetti arrived as manager. Foschi started in two August Coppa Italia games. After the second, against Napoli on August 27, it was announced Lazio had been relegated to Serie C due to one of their players' alleged involvement in the betting scandal. The punishment was then changed to a nine-point docking but Foschi left Lazio in October. He made two appearances for the Biancocelesti in Coppa Italia.

He joined Rondinella Firenze in Serie C1. The Biancorossi were relegated.

He then returned to Lazio in 1987-88. Lazio had managed to stay up in B after a dramatic three-team play-off Fascetti was still manager. The Biancocelesti won promotion and Foschi made one league appearance, coming on for Domenico Caso in the 85th minute in a 2-0 home win against Udinese.

He then left Lazio and played for a multitude of clubs over the next fourteen years; Virescit Bergamo (1988-89, C1, relegated), AVC Vogherese (1989-90, 5th tier, 2nd), Fasano (1990-91, C2, relegated), Olbia (1991-92, C2, 8th), Rimini (1992-93, C2, 3rd), AC Crevalcore (1993-94, C2, 1st and promoted), Lecco (1994-95, C2, 6th), Viterbese (1996-99, C2, 6th, 6th, 1st and promoted), Castel San Pietro (1999-2000, C2, 14th) and Cremonese (2000-01, C2, 7th).

He retired at 34 and started a coaching career.

His first job was at Olbia in 2001-02 in Serie D and the Sardinians won promotion to C2. He then had stints at Novara (2002-04, C2, 1st and promoted, 12th in C1), Ancona (2004, C2, briefly and sacked), Teramo (2004-05, C1, came in during season and sacked), Reggiana (2005-06, C2, 8th, 2006-07 sacked after 4 games), Torres (2007-08, C2, 13th), Alessandria (2008-09, LP2, came in after 19 games, 2nd but promoted, 2009-10, sacked after 12 games) and Savona (2010-11, LP2, came in from fixture 11, 6th).

In 2011-12 he was a technical collaborator with Chievo and then he continued his coaching career at Pordenone (Serie D), Renate (2016-17, LP1, 10th), Livorno (2017-18, C, came in for four games 31-34, Livorno then promoted to B), Ravenna (2018-19, C, 7th   2019-20, 1-27 and first playout game) and Carpi (2020-21, C, came in for four games 20-23).

On September 21 2022 he became Lecco manager and won a historic promotion to Serie B. He was then sacked in October 2023.

He is currently Renate manager again, in Serie C, and finished 5th in the 2024-25 season, then losing in the playoffs.

As a player Foschi was a defender. He played one game for Lazio and then spent his career mainly in 4th tier football. He won two promotions.

As a manager he has made his way around Italy, again mainly in the 3rd and 4th tiers. Until today he has won four promotions. The peak so far was winning promotion to Serie B with Lecco in 2023.
