Christos Mandas is one of Greece's most promising goalkeepers of his generation. Born in Piraeus on 17 September 2001, he developed through the youth ranks of Atromitos before making his professional debut at just 16 years of age. Standing 1.89 metres (6 ft 2 in) tall, Mandas combines quick reflexes with excellent positioning and composure, qualities that have made him one of the most highly regarded young goalkeepers to emerge from Greek football in recent years.

Mandas began his career with Atromitos, progressing from the academy to the first team in 2017. Although opportunities were initially limited, he established himself as a reliable goalkeeper in the Greek Super League and earned a reputation for his shot-stopping ability and calmness under pressure. In January 2022 he joined OFI Crete, where regular first-team football accelerated his development. During the 2022–23 season he was one of the standout goalkeepers in the Greek league, attracting interest from several clubs both in Greece and abroad.

His performances convinced S.S. Lazio to sign him in the summer of 2023 as a long-term successor to Ivan Provedel. Mandas initially arrived as the club's third-choice goalkeeper but quickly impressed the coaching staff. He made his competitive debut in January 2024 during Lazio's Coppa Italia victory over Roma and was later thrust into the starting line-up following Provedel's injury. Displaying maturity beyond his years, he produced a series of assured performances in Serie A, earning praise for his command of the penalty area, quick reactions and confidence when playing with the ball at his feet. He also became the first Greek player to represent Lazio's first team in a competitive match. In 2024-25 he played mainly in Europa League, but when Provedel had a fall in form, he took his place even in Serie A.

In 2025-26 with the return of Maurizio Sarri, he went back to the bench and in January he was loaned out to Bournemouth with an option to buy. He never played, and in the summer he returned to Lazio. With Provedel sold to Inter, he is now Lazio’s number 1 keeper.

Internationally, Mandas represented Greece at every major youth level before making his senior debut in 2024. His rise has placed him among the leading candidates to become Greece's long-term first-choice goalkeeper as the national team enters a new generation.

Technically, Mandas is known for his exceptional reflexes, strong one-on-one defending and penalty-saving ability. He is comfortable playing out from the back and displays the calm temperament expected of a modern goalkeeper. While still developing his aerial command and experience, he is widely regarded as having the attributes to establish himself at the highest level of European football.
