Game 5, Serie A
Sunday, October 4, 1992
Stadio Olimpico, Rome
Lazio Parma 5-2
A Signori hat trick and a great game from Gascoigne give Lazio a splendid win over Parma

In the first four games of the Serie A, the Biancocelesti had drawn four times. Time for a win?
The match
Lazio played majestically and in the first 25 minutes they were already 2-0. In the 12th minute Paul Gascoigne, finally in form and taking charge of the Biancoceleste midfield, was fouled in the box by Claudio Taffarel and the referee was forced to indicate a penalty. Beppe Signori made no mistake. After Alessandro Melli missed a sitter, in the 24th, Diego Fuser, not impressed by the Parma defensive wall in front of him, dribbled past three and once in the box made it 2-0.
In the 30th minute the visitors reduced the deficit. Marco Osio all alone in front of Valerio Fiori, saw his shot saved by Roberto Bacci, but the ball went back to him and this time he did not miss. Sixty seconds later Lazio made it three. Taffarel picked the ball up with hands on a back pass and soso it was an indirect free kick in the penalty box. Touch for Signori and it was 3-1.
The bad day in the office for Brazilian keeper continued six minutes later when Fuser tried a shot from outside the box which passed through his arms for the 4-1.
Bacci again decided to help Parma out and Osio in particular. In the 43rd minute Lorenzo Minotti crossed form the left, Fiori could not get to the ball, Bacci did but passed to Osio who scored his brace.
Parma could have opened the match even further in the 58th minute. Long ball from Tafarel in the 58th minute, the Lazio defenders were daydreaming, Melli tried a header which Fiori miraculously parried and Aron Winter whacked the ball away. In the 70th minute the match was finally put to bed. Signori was fouled in the box by Luigi Apolloni and it was penalty number two. No problem for Signori and 5-2 for Lazio.
A good win for Lazio who despite being very poor in defence, found the best Gascoigne and a clinical Signori, top Serie A scorer.
