The team

With Matteo Guendouzi and Toma Basic suspended, Maurizio Sarri did not have much choice as far as midfield was concerned so enter Reda Belahyane. Gustav Isaksen was back on the bench after his recovery from injury and Tijani Noslin put in the centre of the attack in place of out of form Taty Castellanos.

First half

In the 8th minute Noslin demonstrated his good state of form with a shot that shaved the post. The hosts replied with a shot from outside the box from Nicolò Zaniolo in the 26th. In the 40th minute Jurgen Ekkelenkamp was in a great position to head the ball dangerously on a Zaniolo cross but the result was almost comical.

Lazio demonstrated their current difficulty in creating chances, Udinese played well but were hardly ever dangerous.

Second half

The second 45 minutes continued along the lines of the first. In the 51st minute Matteo Cancellieri off on the counter attack but his shot went wide. That was practically all that happened until the 80th minute when Cancellieri again went off on the right and once in the box passed to Matias Vecino who went for the shot. Oumar Solet tried to deflect the ball into corner, mistimed it and sent the ball into his own goal. Lazio ahead with a stroke of luck.

Udinese pressed Lazio into their box but the Biancocelesti had the chance in injury time to make it two. Alessio Romagnoli took a free kick and sent the ball into the Udinese box, Isaksen stole it off Thomas Kristensen and went face to face with Daniele Padelli on the right. He tried a shot which the keeper managed to save.

Last second of the game. Zanioli from outside the box tried a shot which hit Kenian Davis on the arm. He was able to retrieve the ball, dribble past Adam Marusic and Danilo Cataldi and with a low left footed shot beat Ivan Provedel for the 1-1.

It should have been disallowed since one cannot touch the ball with hand or arm immediately before a goal. The goal stood since for the referee seven seconds is not immediate. A ridiculous decision and yet again rules are bended against Lazio. It is not the first time this season and it is not the first time in general. It will certainly not be the last.
