Game 34, Serie A
Sunday, June 8, 1947
Stadio Comunale, Bergamo
Atalanta Lazio 1-1
Lazio get a good point in Bergamo

The Biancocelesti had not done as well as expected and after the first half of the season they were 10th. Very inconsistent, the Biancocelesti had some good wins (Bologna 3-1, Sampdoria 4-0) but also some bad losses (4-1 against Fiorentina and 5-1 to Torino). After 25 games they were in the relegation zone, but thanks to Enrique Flamini's return they managed to work themselves up. They were currently 11th, four points clear of the relegation zone.
The match
The start of the match gave the illusion of possibly witnessing an interesting game. In the 1st minute, Francesco Randon ran quickly down the wing and put a nice ball into the centre. Arnaldo Salvi catapulted himself for a header, but Corrado Giubilo anticipated.
In the 14th minute, Giacomo Mari cleared short with a header, the ball was caught by Bruno Ispiro who beat Sergio Manente in fine style and crossed. Costantino De Andreis came in and headed it past Giuseppe Casari.
Atalanta equalised in the 33rd minute. Giubilo flew on a shot from Paolo Tabanelli and saved into corner. From the latter, the ball reached Salvi, positioned on the edge of the area, who volleyed it in.
In the second half, the Bergamo team gave the impression of being more proactive, but even this quickly vanished. Only in the 56th minute did Randon threaten when he got the crowd on their feet with a powerful, crisp shot that Giubilo neutralised. From the 20th to the 30th minute, Atalanta had four corner kicks that led to nothing, while Lazio did little to worry the Bergamo goalkeeper with harmless shots from afar.
All in all, a good point for the Biancocelesti.
