The team

First half

A fairly blocked game as both teams tended to cancel each other out. In the 10th minute Gustav Isaksen went off alone on the left and once in the box tried a shot from a difficult position which went wide.

The referee then decided he was not going to help Lazio in any possible way. After a few incredible errors, in the 27th minute long ball from Luca Pellegrini to Fisayo Dele-Bashiru who ran off alone towards the Bologna box, Lewis Feguson held his arm just before the Nigerian entered the box. Clear red card and free kick for Lazio. Not for Chiffi who closed both eyes and the VAR did not think it needed to intervene.

In the 30th minute corner for Bologna. Nikola Moro crossed, Santiago Castro headed it in. Mario Gila watched.

Six minutes later Pedro took a free kick and lobbed the ball over the wall for Daniel Maldini who tried a volley but Łukasz Skorupski parried into corner. Great save.

Towards the end of the first half serious injury for Pedro who was forced to leave the pitch. In came Tijani Noslin.

Second half

It was not looking good for Lazio but the Biancocelesti in the second half immediately equalised. In the 48th minute, one two Dele-Bashiru-Adam Marusic on the right and the Nigerian raced along the right wing, went into the box, crossed low towards the centre, too easy for Noslin and it was 1-1.

That was basically it for the match. Both teams tried a few long range shots but neither were particularly dangerous. During the course of the second 45 minutes there were a number of substitutions: Cataldi, Boulaye Dia, Matteo Cancellieri and Nuno Tavares came on for Rovella, Maldini, Pellegrini and Isaksen; Remo Freuler, Simon Sohm, Federico Bernardeschi, Eivind Helland and Thijs Dallinga for Moro, Jens Odgaard, Nicolò Cambiaghi, Jhon Lucumí and Castro.

Penalties were needed to determine who would face Atalanta in the semifinals.

Nuno Tavares scored, Ivan Provedel saved on Ferguson, Dia scored, Dallinga scored, Marusic scored. Riccardo Orsolini waited until the last possible second to shoot his spot kick but so did Provedel to dive and in the end the Italian shot it wide. Kenneth Taylor did not miss and Lazio were in the semis!!!
