Game 25, Serie A
Saturday, February 14, 2026
Stadio Olimpico, Rome
Lazio Atalanta 0-2
A good but unlucky Lazio lose to Atalanta

The team
Maurizio Sarri had to leave out Alessio Romagnoli, suspended, Pedro and Mattia Zaccagni, injured so Oliver Provstgaard continued in defence and Tijani Noslin on the left in the attack. This game was an anticipation of the Coppa Italia semi-final which would be played on March 4. The stadium was again empty.
First half
Massive chance for Atalanta in the 16th minute. Nicola Zawleski to Lorenzo Bernasconi on the left who ran alone towards the by-line, Ivan Provedel tried to anticipate him but missed the catch, the Italian crossed to the centre for Nikola Krstović who tried a volley, Provstgaard managed to deflect the ball into corner. Honest Ahanor, who had a chance on a corner in the 21st minute when his header went just wide, was forced off in the 25th. Already booked and in difficulty, manager Raffaele Palladino put in Sead Kolašinac.
Lazio unlucky in the 28th minute. Noslin on the left close to the by-line crossed low for Daniel Maldini who in the box received the ball, turned around and passed to Kenneth Taylor. Quick shot which hit the woodwork.
In the 41st minute the visitors scored. Krstović to Davide Zappacosta chased by Danilo Cataldi. Once in the box the Atalanta right back crossed, the Lazio captain stopped the ball with his arm. Penalty which was taken by Ederson and 1-0 for the visitors.
Second half
In the interval two more substitutions for Atalanta: Odilon Kossounou and Giacomo Raspadori come in for Giorgio Scalvini and Lazar Samardzic, Sarri was forced to change Mario Gila with Patric.
Lazio immediately had a chance in the 54th minute. Cataldi crossed into the box from the left, Noslin tried a header, marvellous save from Marco Carnesecchi, Adam Marusic’s attempted tap in went wide. Alas for Lazio, Atalanta scored again. In the 60th minute Zalewski with a brilliant shot from outside the box beat Provedel.
The game was virtually over. The Biancocelesti did try a comeback but only managed to hit a post with Petar Ratkov in the 89th minute. The Serb also missed a sitter in the 95th minute but there would have been no time left anyway.
A good performance, but unlucky.
