Game 28, Serie A
Sunday, April 6, 1952
Stadio Torino, Rome
Lazio Padova 5-0
Lazio without too much sweat comfortably beat Padova

Lazio had begun the season well and after the first half they were third in the company of Inter and Spal, three points behind Milan. Juventus was leading the pack seven points away. The Biancocelesti had also continued to do well in the second half beating Juventus at home and drawing away to Inter. But then two unexpected losses against Lucchese and at home to Como had seen them fall behind the big three but still in fourth place, an excellent position.
The match
The two teams started well with a couple of half chances each in the first ten minutes. Benito Meroni gave Lucidio Sentimenti IV some work to do and Ragnar Larsen threatened with a header. In the 11th and 14th minutes Enrique Martegani tried a couple of shots which went very close. But the Padova midfielder got injured in the 24th minute and Luigi Fuin finally had the space he needed. In the 27th minute he ran towards the penalty area, Philippe Fuchs deflected the shot towards Larsen completely unmarked in front of the keeper. No mistake and Lazio ahead.
The visitors, with Martegani in a bad shape, did not have the strength to put up any opposition and the Biancocelesti in the 41st minute made it two. Fuchs accidently kicked Lelio Antoniotti in the face in the box and the ref gave a free kick to Lazio (today it would have been a penalty). The Biancoceleste forward had to leave the pitch due to the copious amount of blood streaming from his nose. Primo Sentimenti V took the free kick, ball to his brother Vittorio Sentimenti III, big whack, Lazio 2 Padova 0.
In the 48th minute Romolo Alzani passed a ball forward, Gianfranco Ganzer missed it and Larsen had a freeway towards the penalty area and made it three. Four minutes later Antoniotti to Aldo Puccinelli, powerful shot and it was 4-0.
Padova were out for the count and Lazio had a number of shots on and off target with Antoniotti, Puccinelli, Alzani and Sentimenti III. In the 71st minute it was 5-0. Mario Magrini to Sentimenti III who dribbled past Ganzer and beat Enzo Romano.
The Biancocelesti continued to attack and had chances again with Sentimenti III and a probable penalty on Puccinelli but the ref took pity on the visitors and ignored the blatant foul. Leto Prunecchi had a last chance for a goal in the final minutes but his shot went wide.
Great win for Lazio.
