After the first half of the season Lazio were tenth, a little disappointing. But in the first match of the second part Lazio had won at home against Bari and had moved up to 7th place in the company of Bari, Roma, Palermo and today’s opponents Triestina.

The match: Sunday, February 2, 1936, Stadio Littorio, Trieste

In the 18th minute a magnificent Silvio Piola play allowed Luigi Uneddu to take a shot, Antonio Tricarico parried. Ball to Piero Castello then to Piero Pasinati and finally to Germano Mian who crossed in the box, Gino Colaussi had the time to stop the ball and beat Giacomo Blason.

A few minutes later the Lazio keeper had to save on a Luigi Busidoni shot but could do nothing in the 28th minute when Luigi Busidoni despite being held by Alfredo Monza put a slow and clinical shot in the bottom corner that gave Triestina their double lead. Which became three 10 minutes later when Mian was fouled as he was about to score. Penalty and Mian made no mistake.

Three zero down, but Triestina took pity on the Biancocelesti and threw them a lifeline. Francesco Gabriotti took a free kick in the 43rd minute, an innocuous shot that Tricario was about to save easily but the keeper lost his balance and the ball went in.

Another helping hand came in the 47th minute. Elio Loschi dispossessed Piola and passed to Busidoni who left the ball to Pasinati. The forward dribbled past two defenders and arrived one metre from Blason. He had three teammates ready for the tap in but could not decide who to pass to, allowing the Lazio keeper to throw himself on the ball and save into corner.

At this point Lazio took control of the operations and in the 61st minute scored again. Piola passed to Uneddu who seemed to be in off-side. The linesman raised his flag but the referee ignored him, ball to Gabriotti who scored.

Eight minutes later the Biancocelesti equalised. Dubious corner awarded to Lazio, perfect cross from Anfilogino Guarisi, Uneddu tried a shot which could have been saved but Tricarico, hampered by an injury to his shoulder, could not dive properly and the visitors made it 3-3.

The Biancocelesti could have even made it four when in the 78th minute a superb Piola dribbled past a few players and tried a shot but this time the Triestina keeper managed to save.

With four minutes to go, Uneddu saved on the line but everybody present at the stadium thought it was a handball. Some tense moments followed but then petered out.

Good point for Lazio in a game where all had seemed lost.
