The team

Maurizio Sarri surprisingly decided to play Boulaye Dia centre forward despite the negative games he has played as sole striker in the past. He also put Toma Basic on the right plus Matias Vecino as play maker due to Danilo Cataldi being suspended. Probably last game for Lazio for Alessio Romagnoli who was bound for Qatar and Christos Mandas on the bench who will be heading to Bournemouth.

First half

The first sign of activity came from the hosts with a great whack from Lassana Coulibaly parried by Ivan Provedel in the 19th minute. A minute later Santiago Pierotti on an excellent cross from Yber Ramadani had a chance but his volley went too high. Ramadani in the 39th minute with a massive whack from outside the box hit the crossbar. Great shot, unlucky.

And Lazio? Nothing. Just confusion and mistakes. Dire.

Second half

No changes for Lazio despite the terrible first half. But finally, they created a chance in the 54th minute. Mattia Zaccagni to Dia in the box, Wladimiro Falcone came out of his goal and managed to save the attempted volley.

Finally, Sarri decided to change things taking out Vecino, Dia and Mario Gila (injured) for Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Petar Ratkov and Oliver Provstgaard. Lecce also made two substitutions: in came Walid Cheddira and Riccardo Sottil for Nikola Stulic and Lameck Banda.

Lecce tried three times from outside the box. Ramadani high, Cheddira wide and Sottil on a freekick in the 74th minute parried by Provedel. In the 89th minute a Kenneth Taylor shot from went wide.

The match ended here. Terrible game from Lazio.
